Legal Definition of Patent Renewal
Renewal, or annual maintenance fees (anualidades), are yearly payments due to INDECOPI under Decision 486 and Legislative Decree 1075, payable throughout the life of the application and, later, the granted patent.

In Peru, annual maintenance fees fall due each year from the anniversary of the filing date, payable annually for the life of the application or patent, through to the 20th year of the term. INDECOPI allows a grace period after each due date, subject to a surcharge.
